 WHAT: The 150TH Anniversary of the 1862 “CROSSING to FREEDOM:” an act of self-emancipation by  
               slave refugees at Cow’s Ford on the Rappahannock River AND the 150th Anniversary of Lincoln’s 
               signing of the PRELIMINARY EMANCIPATION PROCLAMATION
 TIME:   9am until Noon
 LOCATION: Cow’s Ford on the Rappahannock River near Remington, VA in Fauquier County. Directional
              signs will be posted.
 WHAT TO BRING: It is outside! Bring any and all of the following: friends, family, hat, water, insect spray, sunblock, walking
           shoes, blanket or lawn chair and a grand attitude.
 PROGRAM BRIEF:
 • Speakers will address the Civil War history of the area and the national significance of both events
 •Hymns by a combined choir
 •Recreation of the crossing
 •Reading of the names of slaves from Culpeper County
